Director's Note: Happy New Year! ACDIS plans for 2010, the year of the tiger
January 7, 2010
CDI Strategies - Volume 4, Issue 1
Dear ACDIS members,
Let me begin by saying that I want to thank you all for your participation in ACDIS over the course of 2009. ACDIS is in many ways still a small home-grown association, but we’re building a name in the industry. You, our valued members, have helped with that immeasurably. We’re now past 1,700 members and are continuing to grow.
I’d like to update you on a few things going on with the association:
CCDS certification. More than 200 CDI professionals now possess the Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification. This year we’re working on refining, updating, and strengthening the CCDS exam, and will be exploring ways to increase industry recognition.
2010 conference. Our third annual conference will be held in Chicago and I think we have a great lineup of sessions this year. You can find information on our speakers and sessions on the ACDIS Web site. Big thanks to our 2010 Conference Committee for their hard work selecting speakers and helping to brainstorm sessions.
New advisory board members. As you may know, we bring on four new advisory board members each year. These are professionals who are asked to help provide association leadership, direction, and expertise for our members. We have received many applications from a wide range of qualified professionals. The application period is now closed, and you can expect an announcement on our new board members in late January/ early February.
Goals for 2010. We’ve been busy in 2009 with the CDI Boot Camp, the second annual conference, the CCDS certification, and more. This year we’re adding more Boot Camps, working on a bigger and better conference, and expanding our member resources with more surveys, articles, forms and tools, and other information. Our CDI Work Group is hard at work developing surveys and best practices to help provide benchmarks for the CDI profession, which are sorely needed. We’re also serious about starting up a CDI recognition day/week. Many have asked for this and the profession needs it.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas on anything I’ve mentioned above, as well as your thoughts about the direction ACDIS should take in 2010.
In closing, I hope that you, your friends, and your families are having a wonderful holiday season and that you have some time off to enjoy them.
Take care,
Brian
