ACDIS update: Member submitted poll on uncertain diagnoses open
ACDIS polls are a great way to get snapshots of data you can leverage to benchmark your own efforts, answer a pressing question, or identify an area of potential expansion or research.
Recently, Regulatory Committee Member Kay Piper, RHIA, CDIP, CCS, hospital coding educator at SSM Health in St. Louis, Missouri, was researching which terms organizations would accept as reasonable phrases for uncertain diagnoses. In the absence of official advice, from either Coding Clinic or the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Piper decided that identifying how others handled uncertain diagnoses could help her better understand how her organization might further structure queries and even perhaps begin to develop policies around the use of these terms.
ACDIS helped create this two-question survey, and we hope that our community will take a few minutes to help Piper out by responding. You can send your poll or survey ideas to ACDIS Editor Carolyn Riel at criel@acdis.org.
