ACDIS update: Share CDI advice, earn CEUs, further your career—write for ACDIS!
Whether you’ve been in the CDI field for two months or 20 years, ACDIS believes you have valuable insight to share with the CDI community. One of the wonderful things about ACDIS is that it gives those working in the field a way to share their advice with peers, helping others along in their CDI journeys.
Writing articles for ACDIS publications provides a large-scale platform to reach CDI specialists nationwide. When you publish an article in one of ACDIS’ publications, you’re helping spread best practice advice and tips for those in the trenches, true, but you’re also furthering your own career. Contributing to the ACDIS Blog or the CDI Journal gives you a writing credit to your name and positions you as an expert in the field. Plus, those who are accepted for publication in the Journal also receive one (1) CCDS/CCDS-O continuing education credit (CEU).
ACDIS recommends that those interested in writing a column for the first time submit to the Blog as it’s a more informal space that the Journal. To submit an article, send your idea or draft to ACDIS Associate Editor Carolyn Riel (criel@acdis.org) and ACDIS Editor Linnea Archibald (larchibald@acdis.org). Blog posts tend to be between 500-700 words long and can be focused on whatever topic the author desires, provided that it follows ACDIS’ Code of Ethics and does not contradict ACDIS’ published guidance. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis and will be subject to editorial review and approval prior to publication.
Submissions for the CDI Journal should also be sent to Archibald. Journal articles tend to be 750-1,500 words long and are a bit more formal than Blog posts. While the topic is left to the author as with the Blog, each edition of the Journal does center around a particular theme and contributors are encouraged to submit articles related to those themes. The Journal is published on a bimonthly basis. The topics and deadlines for 2020 are as follows:
- January/February: CDI expansion opportunities (alternative settings)
