Conference corner: Get to know the 2019 keynote and general session speakers
The 2019 ACDIS conference, which takes place May 20-23 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida, is set to be a fantastic event. With six educational tracks and more than 90 speakers, there’s a session for everyone.
Each year, ACDIS brings three keynote and general session speakers to the stage to kick off each day of the event with a bang. This year is shaping up to be a banner year. Here’s what attendees can expect to see on the main stage, so to speak.
Day 1: Natalie Stevas, MD
On April 15, 2013, Dr. Natalie Stevas approached the finish line of her fifth Boston Marathon. Just blocks away she heard explosions, and she ran towards them. Arriving at the scene she went to work administering CPR, applying tourniquets, and triaging the wounded.
What led her to make that fateful decision to run into a terrorist attack? An expert on chaos, Dr. Stavas attacks every obstacle with the same attitude: “You run towards that which you fear, that which challenges you, that which is oppositional.” Running toward chaos actually makes chaos more manageable.
Attendees of the 2019 ACDIS national conference will learn these lessons first-hand, and how to apply them to their careers and their personal lives.
Day 2: Truman Mayfield, CPA, CPE, and Scott Perry, CPA
The Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) is charged with protecting the integrity of HHS programs as well as protecting the health and welfare of program beneficiaries. Attendees will learn directly from OIG representatives how the OIG develops its work plan, prioritizes its focus areas. OIG representatives will also discuss what to expect during an HHS audit in the healthcare arena.
The session also includes discussion of ongoing OIG initiatives such as the hospital compliance project, current areas of focus and results of hospital compliance audits.
Day 3: Joe Tye
Have you seen the picture of a tabby cat looking into a mirror and seeing a lion look back? That is a great metaphor for life—how do we overcome our own inner barriers and self-imposed limitations to fulfill our true potential and achieve our most authentic goals? In this dynamic closing keynote, Values Coach CEO Joe Tye will share seven practical strategies to “be the lion in your mirror” and inspire you to put them to work in your personal and professional lives.
Take a look at what Tye has to say about his session in this special video.
