ACDIS update: Join the conversation about CDI trauma reviews
The next installment in ACDIS’ new webinar series, CDI Conversations, focuses on CDI reviews of trauma charts. On Thursday, June 14, 12-1 p.m. EST, ACDIS invites you to join experts Nicole Fox, MD, MPH, FACS, CPE, and Kristie Perry, RN, MHSA, CCDS, CCS, who will explore details regarding trauma activation fees effect on a hospital’s financial health and medical necessity denials.
Perry will cover advice from AHA Coding Clinic regarding the coding of traumatic injuries and the documentation required to fully capture these patients’ acuity. She’ll also cover the complex rules of coding multiple traumas and how CDI can help to ensure documentation leads to accurate coding and reporting.
Attendees will also learn how to engage trauma physicians—some of the busiest physicians around—from one of their own. Dr. Fox is currently a pediatric trauma surgeon (in addition to being a CDI physician advisor), so she’ll share her years of experience on communicating with difficult, stressed-out providers.
Finally, Fox and Perry will cover how CDI can positively affect quality reporting by reviewing trauma charts and discuss the best ways to approach these dense records and write concise, clear queries along the way.
