News: Survey shows use of CDI contractors, consultants expected to rise

Although only about 25% of hospitals currently outsource their CDI efforts, roughly 70% plan to partner with a private firm in one form or another by the third quarter of 2015, according to a July 29 release from Black Book Rankings “Top Ranked Clinical Documentation Improvement Vendors.”

“There is no bigger provider opportunity on the horizon to maximize financial health than to improve the accuracy of provider clinical documentation,” said Doug Brown, managing partner of Black Book.
