Note from the CCDS Coordinator: Do you know your CCDS due date?
By Penny Richards
Earlier this week I had the unpleasant monthly duty to suspend and revoke CCDS certification from people who did not recertify on time. I suspended 58 individuals who are six month or more overdue (fortunately they can take steps to recertify). I revoked 38 individual and if they still want the CCDS, they’ll have to take the exam again.
Subsequently, I was copied on an email that a CCDS holder sent to more than 50 colleagues, pointing them to a Facebook post about my suspending and revoking activities. I was excited to see that, even if it meant I would be flooded with email from people asking if their CCDS is current.
That individual’s proactive approach and attitude of looking out for teammates who may have let their recert slip is a shining example of ACDIS in action, CCDS camaraderie, and how we stand and work together for the best in clinical documentation excellence.
Ask your colleague if their CCDS is current. Remind them how hard they worked for their certification and why it’s so important to keep it.
And if anyone needs to know their due date, email me.
