Note from the Associate Editorial Director: Identifying CDI program ingredients

CDI Strategies - Volume 15, Issue 24

by Linnea Archibald

Our CDI Week 2021 theme, “CDI Kitchen: Recipes for a successful program,” already has our minds spinning with fun cooking-themed ideas for this year’s celebrations. Think aprons, chef hats, cooking demonstrations, recipe exchanges, and more. September feels like ages away now, but it’ll be upon us in no time, and we couldn’t be more excited.

CDI Week offers a time of recognition for CDI professionals and an opportunity for good old fashion fun, but it’s also a time to take (soup) stock of the industry, to pause and evaluate where the industry stands in comparison to years past. To achieve this aim, ACDIS conducts an annual Industry Survey. Then, we share the results in a comprehensive report, analyze the responses with real-life CDI industry experts in the daily Q&As, and unpack the data’s significance in a free, CDI Week, webinar.

Last year, the survey garnered more than 800 responses from CDI professionals nationwide. The data provided through this survey serves as a benchmark for the community and helps organizations know where their CDI program stands. Now, it’s your chance to weigh in and help provide an industry snapshot for 2021. The survey will remain open until Monday, July 12, so make sure to respond today.

In the past, this survey has covered topics such as technology, quality reviews, ICD-10 implementations, physician engagement, key performance indicators, denials management, and many more. This year, we’ve put a kitchen-themed spin on it, each section representing an ingredient for a successful program—from the basics to expansion opportunities. The 40-odd-question survey is divided into the following sections:

  • Pantry staples (CDI basics)
  • Serving your customers (physician engagement)
  • Ordering takeout (outpatient CDI)
  • A full menu (productivity)
  • Managing your kitchen staff (staffing & professional development)

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to respond. It should only take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete, so it’s a perfect activity for your next coffee break. Plus, respondents will be entered to win ACDIS prizes too! Click here to respond today.
