Note from the Associate Director: Submit a poster, lightning round presentation for the Outpatient CDI ACDIS Symposium
By Rebecca Hendren
With the 2018 ACDIS conference close in the rearview mirror, the ACDIS team is already busy planning for our next conference: ACDIS Symposium: Outpatient CDI. This event is a very different conference than our annual May extravaganza.
For one thing, the Symposium, which takes place November 8-9, is focused on the small but growing topic of CDI in the outpatient setting. Additionally, the event is a compact and intimate affair, which facilitates conversation and networking among attendees in a different way than our large annual conference where there are roughly 2,000 attendees. Because of the smaller size of the Symposium, we’re able to hold more intimate discussions that facilitate sharing, whether people have been practicing outpatient CDI for several years or have barely begun.
I’m excited to open the call for presenters for two parts of the Symposium that actively foster these idea exchanges. The first is the Lightning Round, where we combine four or five quick presentations into a one-hour session, and the second is our first poster presentation at the Symposium.
Apply to speak at the Lightning Round
This innovative session was the hit of last year’s Symposium as it combines quick‐hit ideas from your peers who are working in the field. Each presenter has five minutes to share their best practice, innovative solution, or cautionary tale. It’s a great way to gain some speaking experience without the pressure of preparing a full hour-long session.
Lightning Round presenters receive a $200 discount off their Symposium registration. If you would like to apply, please click here. The deadline to apply is August 1. All entries will be reviewed by the 2018 Symposium Conference Committee and applicants will be notified of the Committee’s review and decision by August 15. Slide presentations will be due September 10.

Apply to present a poster
I like to think of the poster presentations as a conference within a conference. They are an amazing way to share good ideas and programs that work in an easy-to-digest format. If you have an innovative process, an outpatient CDI success story, or an obstacle that your team overcame, then consider submitting a poster.
The Conference Committee will review all applications and select those chosen for presentation. All applicants will be notified by August 15 of the Committee’s decision. Poster presenters will be given a $200 discount off their Symposium registrations. If the poster is presented by a team, the discount will apply to one member.
