Note from ACDIS Editor: Let your voice be heard
by Linnea Archibald
It’s hard to believe that the ACDIS conference has already come and gone. Though there were many things to love at the 10th annual conference, my favorite part was getting to meet all the lovely attendees and speakers. Everyone I interacted with at the conference (and anyone I’ve talked to over the phone or email) in the CDI field has something major in common: they love to help each other and connect.
For some ACDIS members, however, finding a way to help other CDI professionals can be difficult. The good news, though, is that there are many avenues to contribute to the CDI community.
While being a speaker at the ACDIS conference is one of the more visible ways to let your voice be heard, there are a number of other ways. Here are just a few:
- CDI Journal: You can contribute whole articles or lend your expertise by chatting with me through an interview for a featured article.
- CDI Strategies and the ACDIS Blog: You can contribute guest posts about your subject matter or your own personal experiences in the CDI field.
- Webinars: If you’re interested in speaking on an ACDIS webinar, let us know. We’re always looking for good speakers and new ideas.
- Forms and Tools Library: The ACDIS resource library is built from contributions from our members. Do you have a great query template or a sample job description? Share them!
- The ACDIS Forum: Any ACDIS member can post in the Forum. If you see a question you can answer, weigh in. You can also post your own questions and get quick feedback from your peers.
- Join a Local Chapter: The Local Chapters provide a great avenue for networking and contribution to your peers. If there’s not one in your area, read about starting one here!
- Take ACDIS surveys and polls: While a survey or poll may take only a few minutes of your time, we use those results to provide direction and insight into the CDI field for all the ACDIS members. The most recent ACDIS poll probes the ways through which CDI programs monitor the effectiveness of their educational programs.
- Join one of ACDIS’ boards and committees: While each board and committee has different nomination and application processes, getting involved with one can be a great way to give back to the community.
If you’re interested in contributing, email me at larchibald@acdis.org. I would love to chat with you and give you any info you need.
