Note from the ACDIS Director: Last chance to do your civic CDI duty—Vote in the advisory board election today

Today is the last day you can vote in the 2018 ACDIS advisory board election. Let me repeat—today is the last day you can vote in the ACDIS advisory board election!
If you do nothing else as an ACDIS member today, I urge you to go cast your vote now.
Voting won’t take more than five minutes—maybe a few more if you are agonizing over who to vote for. There are 10 excellent candidates and we can only take four.
You may be wondering why I’m making this plea. If you’ve ever read one of our position papers, white papers, a note from the advisory board in our bi-monthly CDI Journal, or listened to an ACDIS quarterly conference call, then you know the crucial role the ACDIS advisory board plays in the leadership of our association—and the greater CDI profession.
The ACDIS advisory board is our compass and our map. They write papers, answer questions, review conference materials, present panel sessions at the national conference, set direction for our CDI Practice Guidelines committee, and more. I’m proud of the great work our past and present board members have accomplished, which includes writing Guidelines for Achieving a Compliant Query Practice with AHIMA, drafting our ACDIS Code of Ethics, elevating critical coding and compliance issues to CMS and the AHA, and collaborating with other healthcare organizations, including the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

This year we have 10 finalists who have stepped up to run and volunteer their time and energy. They deserve to have you, our ACDIS members, make an informed choice and cast your votes. The top four vote-getters in this group of 10—two nurses, one HIM/coding professional, and one physician—will be elected for terms effective April 2018 through April 2021.
How to vote:
- First, you need to log into the website with your username and password. You must be an ACDIS member in good standing. If you have forgotten your username/password, please write or call our customer service team: customerservice@hcpro.com, or 1-800-650-6787.
- Go to our voting page here.
- Read through the candidates’ bios/qualifications and reasons they are running, by category.
- Select your candidate(s) and click the gray “vote” button.
- You are done! Our website only allows you to vote once.
