News: Survey finds CDI helps improve ICD-10 transition, revenue, and quality
Call CDI a magic elixir. It enhanced hospitals’ quality of care, case mix index, and ICD-10 transition, according to a recent Black Book Market Research survey of nearly 1,000 healthcare leaders.
“Because of this increased patient engagement, the need for proper clinical documentation improvement driving quality outcome scores has never been more essential,” said Doug Brown, managing partner of Black Book, in a press release.
The survey specifically targets respondents’ expectations related to vendor support and outsourcing of particular CDI analytics and reporting. EHRs seem to play an important role, according to the press release “EHR replacement go-lives have threatened the sustainability or effectiveness of current CDI programming, including both software and service.” Of those with current outsourced (vendor-related) CDI and coding programs in place, 40% are “contemplating a switch to a second or third generation CDI vendor.”
