Gallup has released a new poll indexing perceptions of specific types of healthcare providers among the United States public, according to a recent press release. The press release noted that the results were collected from Gallup’s 2023 Health and Healthcare survey, conducted November 1-21.

Here are some key statistics from the poll:

  • 82% of respondents said they receive excellent or good medical care from nurses; 69% of respondents said the same for doctors
  • 58% of respondents felt positively about hospitals, with walk-ins/urgent clinics in second at 56%, followed by virtual doctors’ visits at 52%
  • Respondents gave lukewarm positive responses for emergency rooms (47%), drug companies (33%), health insurance companies (31%), and nursing homes (25%)

The press release, alluding to Gallup’s annual “honesty and ethics of professions ratings” poll, also noted that 79% of American ranked nurses as having “very high” or “high” honesty and ethical standards, with doctors ranking second at 62%.
