News: CMS redesigns Hospital Compare website

CMS recently redesigned its Hospital Compare website to enhance navigation capabilities for users. CDI specialists can use Hospital Compare to review their facility’s status on certain quality measures such as readmissions, infections, and other measures. Using the site during physician documentation education sessions helps illustrate to the medical staff the amount of publicly available information regarding the quality of care being provided at a given facility.
Additions to the site include mobile applications, glossaries and web resources, and new search functions. The Hospital Compare site updates also include two new measures regarding potential risk of imaging services and updated data for existing quality measures.
According to CMS, there have already been more than 1.2 million visits to the Hospital Compare site in 2012.
