News: CDI growth-a 10,000 foot view
Today (Thursday, April 16) at 1 p.m., Eastern the American Hospital Association (AHA) joins Executive Health Resources (EHR) to review CDI trends across the country in a webcast on the AHA website.
ACDIS surveys its members on program growth and industry trends, annually sharing results during CDI Week celebrations. (The complete archives of these surveys are available and open to the public on the ACDIS website.) Over the years, surveys have illustrated trends regarding CDI role in audit defense, outpatient and emergency room documentation efforts, ICD-10 implementation, and much more.
However the question of how many CDI programs are in existence remains elusive. Back in 2010, ACDIS Advisory Board member Donald Butler produced an estimate of the number of CDI full-time equivalent staff members in a post on the ACDIS Blog. At the time, he opined CDI specialists might number more than 4,500. Today, ACDIS membership numbers nearly that amount and our annual conference is on track to gather more than 1,200 attendees this year. As a reader of CDI Strategies, you are in the company of more than 20,000 individuals.
With a survey to the AHA population and EHR client base, we may get a fresh perspective, and a new glimpse of CDI’s big-picture. We’re looking forward to learning more about the results in the webcast.
