Local chapter update: Celebrate CDI week with your local chapters

Local chapter meetings don’t have to be all business! Lots of chapters are meeting during CDI Week, and that’s a perfect time to do some celebrating when everyone is together (socially distanced or virtually). While these celebratory meetings can (and should!) include educational sessions, they can also leverage the CDI Week 2020 theme for fun games and events to celebrate chapter members’ contributions to the CDI profession. For example, the Oklahoma ACDIS chapter is celebrating CDI Week with a three-day virtual event taking place September 14, 15, and 18. They are hosting educational sessions on hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators, palliative care, and a round table discussion with the chapter leaders.

If your local chapter has a meeting coming up next week, consider using a bit of time for some CDI Week celebrations and activities. Maybe it’s nominating a chapter member as the CDI superstar, or going around and sharing what each person is doing to celebrate at their facility. September:

• The Georgia ACDIS chapter meets Friday, September 11, 9 a.m. EST, via webinar. For information, contact the Georgia leadership (chair@georgiaacdis.com).
• The Oklahoma ACDIS chapter celebrates CDI Week with a three-day virtual event. The event takes place Monday, September 14, Tuesday, September 15, and Friday, September 18, all at 12 p.m. To register, contact Ann Donnelly (Ann.Donnelly@hillcrest.com).
• The CDI educator networking group and Arizona ACDIS chapter meet Friday, September 18, 12-1:15 p.m. PST, for a joint WebEx Lunch-and-Learn event with speaker Dr. Tim Brundage on the topic of HACs and PSIs. For more information, contact Coral Fernandez (Coral.Fernandez@BHSI.com).
• The Maryland ACDIS chapter meets Friday, September 18, via webinar for its annual conference. The conference registration fee is $10 payable in check or money order only, and must be made out to “Toys for Tots.” Payment and registration forms must be mailed to Deb McClain (see bottom of the registration form).
