Journal Excerpt: CDI at first blush

CDI Strategies - Volume 11, Issue 12

by Linnea Archibald

Though I can now follow along with (at least some of) the acronyms related to CDI, I’m still pretty new to the field. Ever since I was eight years old—or so my parents tell me—I wanted to be a writer. So, when I saw the job posting and description for the ACDIS editor position, I excitedly applied. Boy, did I not know what I was getting myself into.

During my first day, I sat in on so many meetings about the CDI and ACDIS world. It didn’t take me long to learn what CDI stands for but this victory, was short-lived. I didn’t have any concept of what clinical documentation was, or why it needed improving. But now, after some intensive reading and lots of chats with CDI specialists involved with ACDIS, I have seen the proverbial light. CDI matters—for everyone. It matters even if you’re not in the healthcare field.
