Director’s note: Determining the benefit of computer-assisted coding
An interesting question following the last ACDIS Quarterly Conference Call about the impact of new technology on the CDI profession read: "Do you think computer-assisted coding (CAC) will reduce or eliminate CDI jobs?”
Several members of the ACDIS advisory board formulated answers worth sharing. In my opinion, it can be a valuable tool in the box of a CDI specialist, like a hammer or saw, but it does not replace the CDI specialist.
