Conference update: Conference committee Q&A
This week, we spoke with conference committee member, Rita Fields, RN, BSN, clinical documentation specialist at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, KY, about her experiences serving on the committee, and what she’s looking forward to at the 2016 conference.
Q: What were some of the highlights of serving on the ACDIS conference committee?
A: My experience serving on the ACDIS conference committee has been a very positive one. I always look forward to our planning calls because I get introduced to new people and learn about the leaders in the ACDIS community. It’s interesting to hear their thoughts and have a discussion on the speakers and the topics.
Q: What was your favorite part about being on the committee?
A: Being part of the planning of the conference. Being a local chapter leader, I hear what other people like and disliked about the conference. I can take that information back to the committee and hopefully help improve our conference.
Q: What was your process when evaluating a speaker or session?
A: I reviewed the information that each speaker submitted. If the speaker presented last year, I reviewed evaluations from last year’s grogram. If there were two presentations that were similar, I looked at the content to determine which one would offer the best opportunity for education. After eliminating duplicates, I [ranked the sessions to determine my top choices].
Q: Are there any tracks or sessions that you’re particularly interested in?
A: I am looking forward to the management tracks. I am always looking for new ideas to grow our program and education that I can take back to staff.
Q: What in general about this year’s conference are you excited about?
A: I always look forward to the networking. This year, we have a variety of dynamic speakers and some new energetic speakers. I am looking forward to seeing new faces. I also look forward to seeing what exhibitors have to offer to help improves our processes, and, last but not least, I enjoy the social hours with other attendees.
