Conference corner: Things to do in San Antonio

Yes, the ACDIS 2018 Conference will keep you occupied for most of your time in San Antonio for the 2018 ACDIS Conference, but make sure to save some time to enjoy beautiful San Antonio, too. It’s a very walking-friendly city and there’s tons to do. This isn’t the first time the ACDIS conference has been in San Antonio, so the ACDIS team culled their favorite spots along with recommendations from the 2015 Conference Committee to bring you the top picks:

• The San Antonio River Walk: The San Antonio River runs directly through the heart of the city. The river is lined by shops, restaurants, museums, and parks. You can either walk along the River Walk or take a barge down the river and enjoy the scenery passing by until you reach your destination. The Henry B. • The Alamo: Also located on the River Walk, the Alamo is a must-see historical site during your visit to San Antonio. The Alamo is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily for visits and guided tours. For more information, click here.
• The Tower of the Americas: The 750-foot-tall tower is located on the River Walk and provides a great view of San Antonio. The top includes a revolving restaurant with panoramic views of the city. For more information, click here.

• Shops at Rivercenter: The Shops at Rivercenter is a large, 100+ retailer, mall located on the River Walk just a few blocks down from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. • The McNay Art Museum: The McNay Art Museum is the first museum of modern art in Texas and currently includes more than 20,000 works in its collection, spanning Medieval and Renaissance art, 19^th and 20^th century European and American art, theatre arts, and art of New Mexico. • The Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours: If you’d like a historic look at the city with a spooky twist, why not take a haunted tour?
