Associate Director's Note: New advisory board members offer fresh insight

Teamwork. It is one of the cornerstones of the CDI profession, and we like to think it is also one of the cornerstones of our organization. It’s why we rely heavily on our ACDIS Advisory Board and why we’re proud to work with such an excellent group of professionals who hail from a variety of professional backgrounds—just like our membership.

This year’s pool of initial applicants numbered more than 50. Through the teamwork of the nominating committee, which includes both current Advisory Board members and at-large input from our ACDIS local chapter leadership, nominees resumes and applications were thoroughly reviewed, one-on-one interviews conducted, and recommendations made for finalists.

At the end of the process, our members voted in our four board members via popular vote.

The new board members include:

• Judy Schade, RN, MSN, CCM, CCDS, CDI specialist at the Mayo Clinic Hospital
• Anny Yuen, RHIA, CCS, Corporate Director of CDI at Penn Medicine: University of Pennsylvania Health System
• Karen Newhouser, RN, BSN, CCDS, CCS, CCM, Director of CDI Education at MedPartners CDI
• James Fee, MD, CCS, CCDS, Vice President of Huff DRG Review Services
