ACDIS update: Volunteer for the 2019 ACDIS Conference Committee
If you’ve ever attended an ACDIS conference, you know the scale, energy, and excitement the event entails. Though the core ACDIS team members and ancillary staff members work tirelessly for months on end to prepare for the event, the conference would not be what it is without the 12-member conference committee working alongside them.
Each year, ACDIS puts out the call for committee members to serve on this important committee. In 2018, we received 72 applications for the 12 open spots. Click here to read more about the 2018 volunteers.
The work performed by the committee requires a nearly year-long commitment with telephone conference calls of roughly an hour in length, twice a month, as well as time on your own spent reviewing submitted materials and providing online feedback to the committee and administration.
The conference committee is responsible for:
- Reviewing attendee feedback from previous events to highlight opportunities for improvement
- Identifying topics/themes for the conference tracks
- Determining “must-have” sessions suggestions to guide potential submissions
- Assessing speaker proposals and presentation drafts for content, compliance, and accuracy
- Ensuring speakers abide by necessary proposal guidelines and requirements
- Acting as an ambassador for the conference and the association
- Assisting in recruitment and assessment of the annual ACDIS Achievement Award nominations
- Evaluating proposals for ACDIS’ poster presentations
- Participating (as able) onsite with event moderation, poster presentations, team meet-up, etc.
