ACDIS update: Looking for outpatient CDI education?
Everyone is talking about CDI efforts in the outpatient setting. The definition of outpatient, however, differs depending on the focus and scope of program needs. Over the next few weeks, ACDIS offers a unique set of online multimedia sessions designed to explore the facets of such efforts and provide those looking to this new area the basic tools needed for expansion.
The Outpatient CDI Workshop kicked off yesterday, but there’s still space available. There are 10 sessions in all—including a networking call and lightening round of innovative outpatient idea—happening through Friday, November 17. Registrants receive access to all sessions in both the live sessions and on-demand recordings. Sessions qualify for CCDS, AHIMA, and AAPC continuing education credits. Sessions include:
- Wednesday, October 18: “Evaluation and Management 101” presented by Karen Newhouser, RN, BSN, CCM, CCDS, CCS, CDIP

“One of our guiding principles at ACDIS is to be at the forefront of changes in the industry,” says Rebecca Hendren associate director of membership and product development at ACDIS. “We want to provide our members with guidance, information, and resources they can turn to for education and clarification as they venture into new CDI focus areas. We’ve been publishing articles exploring the growing outpatient and ambulatory arena for several years now and will continue to do so as this segment of the profession grows and changes. We want to keep our fingers on the pulse of what’s going on and share that knowledge with our members.”
